Background of Limkokwing University: LUCT was founded by the late Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing, a Malaysian businessman, philanthropist, educator, and illustrator. He is credited with transforming the Malaysian private education landscape. His vision transformed Limkokwing into a global university.

  • UNESCO Partnership: LUCT has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with UNESCO’s International Institute for Technical Education (IITE); both agreed to develop the joint UNESCO IITE/LUCT project “ICT for University Accessibility Network” that aims at social and educational inclusion of students with disabilities by promoting access to information and educational materials by means of ICT.
  • Botswana recognition: The Botswana campus of LUCT is officially recognised by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology of Botswana.

International Admissionsline

The admission process starts with filling out the admission form available on the official website. Students must have the following required documents for online registration:

  • Passport Pictures

  • Colourful PDF of students' passports

  • Academic Transcript or Certificate

  • Attendance Report: Proving that the student had at least 80% attendance in the previous academic year.

  • The attendance report must state that the student completed at least 80% of the required attendance.

  • Visa cancellation copy: with visa cancellation stamp

  • Portfolio: students need to submit three pieces of their original work for applicants in the Design, Fashion, and Architecture programmes.

  • Any References and Recommendation Letters

  • Curriculum Vitae: For all the applicants who are above the age of 25.

 

Important points about the application procedure for international students:

  • Before filling out the form, read the applicable “Terms & Conditions”.

  • Fill the complete form in BLOCK letters only.

  • After selecting a course, students need to pay a registration fee of RM 500 and need to submit proof of payment on the website.

  • Students need to undergo a pre-medical checkup in their home country; checkups older than 6 months wouldn’t be accepted.

  • English Language Proficiency Test Requirements: Typical minimum scores are IELTS 5.0 or above, TOEFL 34 or above, or equivalent.

 

The submitted admission application will then be reviewed by the university, and an acceptance letter will be sent to the successful applicant. After this, the university submits the application to the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) for processing the student’s visa. Students can later download their electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) from the EMGS website after approval.

 

Application Processing and Intake Dates

  • For all foundation and diploma courses: April
  • All MBA programmes: Monthly intakes
  • DBA/PhD/MA/MSc: January, April, and September

Classes start in September for all Foundation and Diploma courses and in July for all undergraduate courses.

Eligibility and Scholarshipsline

The different eligibility criteria are:

 

  • For foundation courses, students must have completed secondary school (O-level or equivalent), with a minimum of 50%-60% marks.
  • Diploma courses require students to hold a secondary school certificate with subjects relevant to the applied course. Admission requires a minimum percentage of 50-60%.
  • For a bachelor’s degree, there must be a high school certificate (A-levels, STPM, or equivalent) including the relevant subject. A percentage minimum of 50% - 60%.
  • Candidates for master's degrees (MBA and MSc) must first complete a bachelor's degree in the relevant topics from a recognised university. A student must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 to 2.5. They must submit two references or recommendation letters from a previous or current employer, professor, or community leader.
  • PhD applicants must be in possession of a master’s degree in a relevant field with a keen interest in research.

 

The English proficiency requirement for basic, diploma, and bachelor's degrees is IELTS 5.0+, TOEFL 34+, while master's and PhD programmes are IELTS 6.0+, TOEFL 500+.

 

Scholarships

 

There are various types of scholarships provided by the institution every year for both local and international students across its campuses, covering full or partial tuition fees. It excludes accommodation, transportation, and stipends. They are provided based on academic, talent, financial, or special circumstances. The scholarships are:

 

  1. Straight A Straight In: Students with excellent academic results get this scholarship. It waives full or partial tuition fees for the entire duration of studies.

  2. Outstanding Talent: This scholarship is for students with significant achievements in the arts, sports, or leadership. It also covers full or partial tuition fees.

  3. Financial Assistance: Students with financial difficulties can write to the Student Service Department for financial assistance. Depending on the need, a 100% scholarship can be provided to students.

  4. Physically Challenged: This is for students with disabilities and health challenges. It covers 100% of the tuition fee but does not include accommodation and travel.

  5. Sala Scholarship: A 30% scholarship coupon code is provided to all the students without doing any test or exam from Limkokwing University. This will wave of the tuition fees. Students must have a good academic performance, extra-curricular involvement, and a school recommendation.
